Applications will be accepted from individuals selected for membership but not yet initiated; see the application form for details.
  • Have applied to enroll as a full-time student in a post-baccalaureate program of study for the current academic year. Accredited international institutions are acceptable.

Please note:

  • Applicants should not hold other graduate degrees; this should be their first graduate program.
  • Applicants who have successfully completed 10 or more graduate credits on or before April 15 are not eligible.
  • Credits enrolled but not yet earned at the application deadline are not considered part of the 9 hour limit.
  • Graduate hours earned through dual-enrollment programs will not be counted towards the 9 hour limit if those credits are applied to the undergraduate degree.
  • Winners may defer for up to two years, pending approval.

Call the national office at 800-804-9880 or email at info@phikappaphi.org.

In addition to being a member, you may apply at anytime after receiving your bachelor's degree, as long as you have not earned 10+ hours of graduate credits.

The deadline to apply at your local chapter may vary. Please check with a chapter officer. To find a list of the officers at your chapter, click here

Please complete the application online and save the completed PDF. You'll then submit the application, official transcripts, test scores (if applicable), work sample, and two letters of recommendation to your local chapter by their deadline.

You must include the following:

  • application (complete online, download and print)

  • official transcript(s)

  • Two letters of recommendation

  • standardized test score report(s) (if applicable)

  • Work sample. Provide a sample of your best academic writing (2,500 words). Do not submit work by multiple authors.

    • If in the arts, a creative work sample may be provided in lieu of a writing sample (no more than five pages or five minutes of audio/visual).

Applications must arrive at your local Phi Kappa Phi chapter by the date they have set. The local chapter will select a nominee to compete in the national competition. Contact your chapter to verify their preferred means of submission. Your chapter president's email address may be found in the online Chapter Directory

You must apply at the institution where you were inducted. See the Chapter Directory for contact information.

Chapters are notified by June 15 and given one week to notify their nominee. Notifications are then sent directly to all applicants.

You will receive your award when you and the registrar have fully completed the Certificate of Registration, and it has been received by the national office no earlier than July 1 of the year in which you are applying.

Funds will be disbursed directly to the recipient via direct deposit after completing a Certificate of Registration.

Funds are disbursed directly to the Fellowship recipient.

Award recipients are required to submit a W-9 and will receive a 1099 from the organization. Recipients should consult with their tax advisor regarding the taxability of award payments.
