As we prepare for the summer 2026 edition of the Phi Kappa Phi Forum, we're asking members to contribute their ideas to the theme. We enjoy reading your responses and will be choosing a sample to share in the magazine.
Forum’s summer 2026 issue will explore the insights we gain from new experiences, and we want to hear from you about something you’ve learned after moving to a new place. What’s one big thing you’ve discovered after relocating?
Danny Heitman, Forum editor, recalls what he learned after moving to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, from a much smaller community several decades ago. He assumed the city would be too large for him to know well. But the more residents he met, the more he began to understand the shared relationships that made Baton Rouge run. It was a reminder for him that regardless of their size, all communities thrive through a sense of connection. Maybe it’s the difference in cuisine or cultural attitudes that strikes you when you move to a new place. Share your thoughts, and let’s get a discussion going.
Share your response to our question by replying to this discussion in our online member community Link. Responses of no more than three or four sentences are recommended, and we look forward to reading your contributions. We'll publish some of your answers in the “Up for Discussion” feature of our summer magazine.
