Member Mentions – August 2022

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi's international community is a unique blend of students, academicians, and corporate and civic leaders from all fields of endeavor. Membership in Phi Kappa Phi recognizes and rewards academic success. That recognition doesn’t end after initiation. From their time in school to their professional career, Society members’ hard work continues to pay off and be acknowledged.

Phi Kappa Phi would like to congratulate these members on their recent achievements:

Caleb Bengs (Oklahoma State University) an aerospace engineering graduate, was one of the eight students in the country to receive the 2022 Regional Undergraduate Student Award from Sigma Gamma Tau. Bends was honored based on his academic honors and distinctions, extracurricular activities and technical achievements.

Christine Jones (University of Arkansas at Little Rock) received the Aspiring Scholar Award for her outstanding achievements by the LULAC National Educational Service Centers. Jones was also elected as a Senator for the coming 2022-23 academic year of the Student Government Association.

June Pilcher (Clemson University) was named a 2022 cohort Sigma Xi Fellow. She was recognized for distinguished accomplishments and thirty years of dedicated service to the Clemson University chapter of Sigma Xi, as well as serving in leadership roles and giving attention to succession planning.

Max Phillips (Millikin University) was named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for NCAA Division III by the Golf Coaches Association of American. Phillips averaged 78.47 while turning in an outstanding academic performance earning a bachelor's degree in Chemistry.

Emma DeCaro, Claudia Makarski, and Catherine Maher (Kutztown University) received D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards for their academic accomplishments as student-athletes. Makarski and Maher were also recognized as Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athletes.

Bradley University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences announced its 2022 Spring Semester awards for its outstanding students. Four active Phi Kappa Phi members received awards. Julianna Babin was awarded the Outstanding Students in Sculpture; Bailey Beason was awarded the Outstanding Students in Organizational Communication; Christine McGowan was awarded the Sigma Alpha Iota Scholastic Award; and Jossie Ward was awarded the Global Scholar Award and Nicolas Nyaradi Memorial Award.
