Jonathan Kotinek
Texas A&M University

Name
: Jonathan Kotinek

Chapter Position: Public Relations Officer

Years of Service to the Chapter: 3 years

University Position: Associate Director, University Honors Program

Degree(s)/Discipline: Ph.D. Educational Psychology, M.A. English

How did you become involved as a chapter officer? I was invited to fill a role vacated by a colleague in Honors who was leaving the university.

What has your chapter done that has made you proud? My association with an organization that emphasizes excellence in all fields and truly values learning for the sake of learning is something I truly prize.

What does Phi Kappa Phi mean to you? My membership in Phi Kappa Phi reminds me to look for opportunities to build bridges with other people through shared experience, and to always strive to keep learning.

What do you enjoy most about being a chapter officer? I really enjoy the opportunity to remind new inductees about the value of learning and making connections as they approach graduation.

What advice would you give to a new chapter officer? Like most things in life, you will get out of your experience what you put into it. Find a way to make your service to Phi Kappa Phi personally meaningful, and it will be something that feeds your energy.

What are your hobbies? I enjoy running, reading, amateur photography, and painting.

Where are you from? I am a native Coloradoan, but a naturalized Texan. I grew up in Arlington and Grand Prairie, TX, and have spent all of my adult life in Bryan/College Station, TX.
