Oderah Anosike, of the Texas A&M University chapter, combines athletic excellence, academic achievement and a passion for higher education leadership. A proud Nigerian-American, Anosike was born and raised in Staten Island, New York. His parents were born and raised in Nigeria before moving to the United States, where he and his siblings were born.

Anosike earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Siena University, where he attended on a full scholarship. Originally planning to attend law school, Anosike instead pursued a professional basketball career that went further than he ever imagined. While beginning his professional career, he earned a Master of Science in sport management from Texas A&M University. As retirement from playing approached, he pursued a doctorate and earned a Ph.D. in public administration from Liberty University in 2026.

Currently, Anosike is a professional basketball player with a 13-year career that has taken him to 11 countries around the world. He also serves as a development/Name, Image, and Likeness intern within the athletic department at his alma mater, Siena University.

Anosike’s interest in higher education athletics leadership developed early in his professional basketball career. He pursued research focused on resource stewardship and allocation in higher education because he believed examining the challenges connecting the economic environment, higher education ecosystem and political climate would be timely, relevant and unique.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Anosike is passionate about community service. During college, he volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House in Albany, New York, and at the Regional Food Bank, where he helped collect, sort and distribute essential items to those in need.

When describing what excites him most about his future career path, Anosike highlighted the opportunity to impact young people, support them during a pivotal stage of their lives and inspire them to reach their full potential. He hopes to combine his experiences in sports and education to support future leaders in higher education athletics.

Being initiated into Phi Kappa Phi was also meaningful for Anosike. He said the organization's long-standing history and tradition, along with its many notable members, made the honor especially significant. He is grateful for the opportunity and committed to continuing to represent the Society well.

When he is not working or playing basketball, Anosike enjoys Nigerian cuisine, especially his mother's homemade okra soup. If he could travel anywhere tomorrow, he would return to Nigeria to visit family, experience the culture again and see how the country has developed. One item on his bucket list is attending the Super Bowl, especially if his hometown New York Jets are playing. A fun fact about Anosike is that he is one of eight children, with four brothers and four sisters.

Looking ahead, Anosike hopes to work in higher education athletics leadership, where he can combine his passion for sports and education while helping students reach their full potential.
