With each edition of the Society’s Forum magazine, “Forum 15” highlights elements of popular culture related to the theme. Our goal is to affirm that the ideas we discuss in Forum have a vivid presence in our daily lives in the books we read, the shows we watch, the songs we sing, the movies we see and the buildings we admire.
Forum’s Winter 2026 issue will explore the experience of a change of habit, and the content will include “Forum 15,” our regular feature that lists notable works of culture related to our theme.
Do you know of a memorable book, movie, play, song or piece of art that concerns a change of habit? For Forum Editor Danny Heitman, relevant examples include “Cold Turkey,” the 1971 film comedy in which an entire town tries to give up smoking, with hilarious results, and “Rocky,” in which an aspiring boxer commits to a grueling daily regimen in order to become a champion boxer. We’d love to hear your suggestions about works of literature, film or art that explore the power of a change of habit. Can you think of any?
Share your ideas in our members-only online community. We’ll include as many ideas as we can in the Winter Forum.
