Bill Bowerman, the inaugural recipient of Phi Kappa Phi’s Mary Todd Sabbatical Award, has spent much of his life researching eagles, which has required him to hold some pretty big raptors. If you haven’t read our story about Bowerman in the latest Forum, check it out here. Our picture of Bowerman with an eagle in his arms made us wonder: What’s the most unusual animal you’ve ever touched? Forum Editor, Danny Heitman, stroked a camel’s nose at a nature preserve once, and has pet a sting ray, too.

How about you? We’d love to hear your stories on this topic. Feel free to share pictures, too, if you’d like.
