Phi Kappa Phi has partnered with the following organizations that provide members the opportunity to apply for scholarships worth up to $2,500 for their internship programs. These programs provide individuals with opportunities to explore career options, while enhancing their leadership development potential.

DC Internships Logo

Phi Kappa Phi members are invited to apply for the DCinternships summer and semester programs based in Washington, DC. Sponsored by The Fund of American Studies, each program includes academic credit through George Mason University, an internship placement, furnished housing, guest lectures and site briefings as well as professional development and networking events.

The Fund for American Studies has been creating academic internship experiences for over 40 years and work with over 300 top organizations in DC. Students are placed with federal agencies, Congressional offices, policy groups, think tanks, international affairs organizations, embassies, media outlets and public relations firms, government relations offices and, community-based nonprofit organizations.

In addition to courses and internships, students will get to participate in a Mentor Program, Professional Development Seminars, Roundtable Discussions + Networking Receptions with program alumni, as well as Site Briefings at some of the city’s most influential institutions and organizations.

Scholarship Information for Phi Kappa Phi Members

3 scholarships in the amount of $2,500 have been reserved for members of Phi Kappa Phi. Applicants for these scholarships should apply before the priority deadline. Members not selected for one of these 3 scholarships will be reviewed for awards from The Fund for American Studies' general scholarship fund. Members must denote their Society membership within their online application materials.

The Washington Internship Institute’s semester-long academic internship program is carefully designed to provide students from the U.S. and abroad with practical, hands-on experience and academically rigorous courses emphasizing public service, leadership and professional development.

Students benefit from powerful internships that are purposefully designed and individually tailored. Students from every field of study have successfully participated in rewarding internships that have helped them focus on and further their career goals. Four days a week, students do meaningful work in professional settings available only in the nation’s capital. Recent placements have included federal agencies, Congressional offices, embassies, businesses, and a wide range of nonprofit and advocacy organizations in every field. Students also benefit from advisors who offer guidance through the entire internship to ensure their experience leads to significant professional and personal growth.
