Membership FAQ

Membership in the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is earned. Admission is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. The governing bylaws of the Society set extremely high standards for membership. See detailed information about eligibility requirements here

You may contact a chapter officer at your college or university. See the Chapter Directory for a listing of chapter officers on your campus.

Since its founding in 1897, Phi Kappa Phi has initiated more than 1.5 million members. Each year, approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni are initiated. Currently there are approximately 100,000 active members.

As a new Phi Kappa Phi member, the candidate will pay certain national and chapter fees. The national portion, which starts at $77, pays for your pin, a certificate, and one year of national dues. Chapter fees, which vary, cover the cost of the banquet or reception and local dues.

The annual membership renewal fee is $42 and is required for you to be an active member and receive the full benefits of membership for one year. Discounted rates are available if you opt to renew for multiple years.

Please note that one of the national dues options is required to be an active member and receive the full benefits of membership for the selected time period. By electing to pay chapter dues, you can help your chapter fund local awards and host area activities. See a full explanation of dues.

Please contact the Phi Kappa Phi chapter at your institution. To locate chapter officers on your campus, please refer to the Chapter Directory.

Phi Kappa Phi dues are not deductible as a charitable contribution for U.S. federal income tax purposes.  However, charitable donations to the Phi Kappa Phi national organization or its chapters are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.  The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by the Internal Revenue Service.

Membership dues, initiation fees, donations, and pledges are non-refundable and final.
