Where is the 2022 Phi Kappa Phi Biennial Convention?

The 2022 Phi Kappa Phi Biennial Convention will be held at the Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate.

What are the dates of convention?

Thursday, Aug. 4 – Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022

Why should I attend?

Attending convention will allow your chapter to have a voice in the governance of the Society. In addition, you will have the opportunity to interact with other officers, members, Society leadership and staff across three days of networking, learning and sharing.

Who from my chapter should attend?

Per Society Bylaws, one delegate from each chapter should attend the biennial convention. Each chapter should appoint one delegate to attend the convention and vote on behalf of the chapter. All voting delegates must be active members as of July 31, 2022, to cast their chapter's vote. Hotel and airfare booking instructions will not be sent to anyone whose membership is not current through this date, so please renew your membership if needed. Delegate preference should be given to faculty/staff officers. However, chapters can elect a student vice president to attend if all other officers have scheduling conflicts.

What meals are provided during convention?

  • Thursday: Lunch will be provided to all convention participants.
  • Friday: Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided to all convention participants.
  • Saturday: Breakfast and a grab-and-go executive boxed lunch will be provided to all convention participants.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

There is an opportunity to indicate any special dietary concerns during the registration process.

Will internet access be provided during convention?

Yes. Details for internet access in the meeting rooms will be provided when you check-in.

What is the recommended attire for convention?

Business casual or business dress attire is recommended for all sessions and events.

What is the registration fee?

The early bird registration rate is $450 and will be available through May 31. The registration rate will increase to $500 on June 1. Regular registration fees will apply through 11:59 PM CDT on July 13, 2022.

When is the deadline to register?

Convention registration closes at 5 p.m. CT on July 13.

What is included in registration?

All scheduled events at the Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate including meals and reception.

What is not included in registration?

Ground transportation, airport and hotel parking, meals not included during the event, and airline baggage fees are not covered by the Society. These expenses should be reimbursed after the event from chapter funds. Please note that all non-delegate travel expenses are completely the chapter's responsibility.

Are guests allowed to attend?

We hope you will plan to bring your families to enjoy the many amenities available at the resort and surrounding area. Adult guests are welcome to attend convention programming for a registration fee of $375. Children are not allowed to attend any convention programming or meals.

How do I check in at convention?

The registration desk will be open Thursday, Aug. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT. Phi Kappa Phi staff members will be on hand to assist and direct you to the check-in desk.

Can our chapter be billed directly?

Payment is due at the time of registration and will be processed by credit card through our convention event app Whova. Charges may be listed from Whova and/or Stripe on your statement. If you have any questions about a charge, please contact the national office at 800-804-9880, ext. 214.

How will my chapter be reimbursed?

The national office has made arrangements for airfare and three nights of lodging to be charged to the Society for one delegate per chapter. See the Travel Expense Guidelines for additional information.

What is not covered for reimbursement?

Delegates will not receive reimbursement for:

  • Convention registration fee
  • Hotel rates above the amount charged for the room block reserved for the event at Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate
  • Baggage fees
  • Extra/upgraded seats
  • Ground transportation
  • Airport and hotel parking

We suggest that the chapter cover any of these expenses for the delegate.

Is there a cancellation policy?

Cancellations must be requested in writing (email is acceptable) and received at the national office no later than July 13, 2022. A cancellation fee of $75 will be assessed to cover administrative costs.
Any written cancellation received after July 13, 2022, will not be refunded.
Any convention no-shows will not be refunded.
Convention registration can be transferred to another eligible chapter officer until July 13, 2022, by contacting the national office. Delegate eligibility must be determined for any registration transfer.


How do I book my hotel reservation?

Convention participants are required to stay at the Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate. A hotel reservation booking link and instructions will be emailed to each delegate and non-delegate once registration has been completed.

Will my hotel room be reimbursed?

The national office has arranged to charge room and tax charges only to the Society’s account for each chapter’s voting delegate for a maximum of three nights. Nights covered will be Wednesday, Aug. 3, Thursday, Aug. 4, and Friday, Aug. 5. Any room booked without our customized link will not be eligible for reimbursement or covered by Phi Kappa Phi.

Is there a negotiated room rate?

Yes, Phi Kappa Phi has secured a room block at a special rate for attendees at the Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate. The group room rate is $184 per night plus tax and includes the resort service fee.

Is it possible to extend my stay or upgrade my room?

Yes, extended stay rates may be available July 31-Aug. 10, 2022. Any additional nights, room upgrades, or incidental costs will be the responsibility of the delegate. Should you choose an upgraded room type or to stay additional nights, the upgrade fee and additional nights will be charged to your account

What is the deadline to book my hotel room?

The room block is available until July 13, 2022, at 5 p.m. CT.


How do I book my flight?

We have partnered with Options Travel to provide airfare booking services for each delegate. Once we have received your registration, you will receive a link from TempoTrip to make your flight arrangements. Please check junk/spam folders and add to your safe sender list to ensure that you receive TempoTrip’s email. Travel policies have been established with TempoTrip that will only allow economy airfare purchase.

Will my travel expenses be reimbursed?

For chapter delegates, flight costs booked through TempoTrip will be charged to the Society, so there will be no need to submit airfare reimbursements. See Travel Expense Guidelines for additional information including personal automobile usage.

When do I need to arrive and depart to fulfill my responsibility as a delegate?

Due to the timing of the convention election, return travel cannot be scheduled any earlier than 2:30 PM ET on Saturday, Aug. 6.

What Options are available for ground transportation?


  • The Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate offers several options to meet your transportation needs during your stay.
  • Taxi Service or Uber: Rate is approximately $82 from MCO to Omni; and $100 from Omni to MCO, for one to four passengers
  • Mears Town Car: Rate is $120 to $145 from MCO to Omni; and $104 from Omni to MCO


Complimentary scheduled transportation is provided to EPCOT and Disney's Magic Kingdom® (the Walt Disney World® transportation center that accesses all Disney attractions). The Omni currently offers 6 departures and four to five return trips, daily. Please see the concierge for the scheduled times and to reserve your transportation. We suggest 24-hour* advance reservations to guarantee specific departures from the resort. You may visit the concierge desk or call 407- 238–6505.
*Please allow up to 48 hours to schedule transportation that requires a chair lift or other ADA accommodations.


Mears town cars are available to transport guests to locations with one-way rates starting from approximately $65. Guests may also make their own preferred transportation arrangements through ridesharing services or taxis.


Who is the keynote speaker?

The 2022 Convention will feature two keynote speakers. Dr. Cathy Davidson, distinguished professor at City University of New York and author of The New Education, will give a keynote address at lunch on Friday, Aug. 5. Dr. Freeman Hrabowski, president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, will give a keynote address at the awards dinner on Friday, Aug. 5.

Will I have a chance to meet with my division?

Yes. Divisional meetings will be hosted Friday morning. Breakfast will be served during these meetings.

Is attendance mandatory at any of the sessions?

Delegates are expected to attend all sessions during convention.

Will presentations be made available to attendees?

All convention material, including presentations, will be available on the mobile app. The app will be released prior to convention, and all attendees will be notified at that time. Attendees will need to download the Whova app and are strongly encouraged to bring an electronic device of choice to view materials during convention.
