IRL_MENTOR_TW_LI_profile_AAs a Phi Kappa Phi member, you’ve made great achievements in your academic career. When you look back over your educational journey, who comes to mind? Was it a science or math teacher who encouraged you to keep working hard to master the course material? Was it a professor or faculty member who empowered you to pursue your dream? Most likely, you were lucky enough to have a mentor who inspired and challenged you to be where you are today.

January marks the 15th annual National Mentoring Month—a month dedicated to celebrating mentors, past and present, who have made an impact in the lives of others.

This impact is evident in research that shows when matched through a quality mentoring program, mentors can play a powerful role in providing students with the tools to make responsible decisions and stay focused and engaged in school. Moreover, young adults who had mentors as kids are paying it forward—they are 78% more likely to volunteer regularly in their communities according to The National Mentoring Partnership.

Throughout January, join us as we celebrate the many benefits of mentoring and encourage the mentors making a difference each day.

To share your unique mentoring story, email news@phikappaphi.org, and join the conversation on social media by using #PKPMentors and #MentoringWorks.
