Name: Keisha Martin

Chapter Position: Chapter Administrator

Years of Service to the Chapter: 3 years

Degree(s)/Discipline: Business Administration

How did you become involved as a Phi Kappa Phi volunteer? I became involved with Phi Kappa Phi by virtue of occupying the position I currently work in at my university. Phi Kappa Phi is a major part of my full-time job duties and I really enjoy working with the Society. I welcomed the opportunity to become more hands-on with students when assuming this role.

What has Phi Kappa Phi done that has made you proud? Phi Kappa Phi Society Headquarters has been a great source of knowledge for our chapter in improving operations. I am proud of the progress our chapter has made over the last few years.  As a result of the patience and invaluable assistance provided by Society Headquarters, our chapter is growing by leaps and bounds. Membership numbers have steadily increased each year and our chapter has been presented the Chapter of Merit Award.

What does Phi Kappa Phi mean to you? Phi Kappa Phi means a lot to me because I am involved in an effort which directly awards students for academic excellence.  Working with Phi Kappa Phi makes me feel like I am doing my part in encouraging the growth and perseverance of young adults, most of whom are shining stars and destined for greatness!

What do you enjoy most about being a Phi Kappa Phi volunteer?
I enjoy making life easier for our chapter's executive board by anticipating their needs and completing tasks for them ahead of time. This practice allows more time for the board to develop new strategies which in turn strengthens our chapter to better benefit our members.

What advice would you give to a new Phi Kappa Phi volunteer? Working with Phi Kappa Phi is very rewarding. Increasing student interaction and providing them with bountiful knowledge about Phi Kappa Phi is important. Students are inquisitive by nature and engagement is required in order to pique their interests. Be creative and thorough in your attempts at communicating with students. As a volunteer, you provide the first impression of the chapter and may ultimately be the determining factor of whether an invitation to join is accepted or not. Volunteers are the face of Phi Kappa Phi, so wear it well!

What are your hobbies?
My husband and I love spending time with our dog, watching Jeopardy and Family Feud on weeknights and catching up on the latest box office releases on weekends.

Where are you from? South Carolina
