Chapter Book Drives Promote a Love of Learning

Mar 2, 2015

Between September and December, Phi Kappa Phi chapters participated in the Society’s second book drive competition. The competition, which has now become an annual event, challenged chapters to collect as many books as possible for an organization of their choice.

In all, the participating chapters collected more than 700 books!

Because of their participation in the event, these three Phi Kappa Phi chapters were selected to receive a “Little Free Library” and $150 to put toward personalizing the library:

  • Delta State University
  • Eastern Kentucky University
  • Nicholls State University

The concept of the Little Free Library is a “take a book, return a book gathering place” in a community—a prize that fits in well with Phi Kappa Phi’s love of learning and commitment to literacy. The chapters will determine a location on their campus or in their local community to place the Little Free Library.

The Spring Book Drive Competition currently is underway. To find out how your chapter can get involved, visit PhiKappaPhi.org/BookDrive.
