How did you become involved as a chapter officer?
My department head at the time, realizing I had been a member of Phi Kappa Phi since my undergraduate years, invited me to a meeting, then asked me to consider taking the Campus Secretary position, which we had in addition to Chapter Secretary. I did, and moved up as an officer after that.

What has your chapter done that has made you proud?
I think my inauguration of the annual Phi Kappa Phi Homecoming Intramural Quiz Bowl Tournament, begun with a Promotion of Excellence Grant in 2002, was a big accomplishment for the chapter. Our founding of an endowed scholarship in honor of a long-time officer of our chapter, Ms. Lou Ballard, is also high on the list.

What does Phi Kappa Phi mean to you?
I became an educator to inspire students to strive for excellence in all areas. Participation in Phi Kappa Phi only furthers that aim.

What do you enjoy most about being a chapter officer?
It is a privilege and pleasure to work with some of the most outstanding people on our campus, and it is fulfilling to recognize students who aim for excellence and reach it.

What advice would you give to a new chapter officer?
Amidst the tangle of records, duties, and events, an officer must keep focused on the many benefits those efforts make for our students and faculty/staff/alumni.

What are your hobbies?
If I ever have time for anything, my husband and I enjoy hiking and travel in general.

Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Houma, Louisiana.
