Our Winter 2020 issue of Forum, which explores the theme of hindsight, has an essay by Michael Finnegan about his late uncle, a World War II soldier killed soon after the Allied invasion of Normandy, France on June 6, 1944. He never knew his uncle but began to learn more about him when Finnegan's mother shared two letters that he'd written during his time in the military.
