How did you become involved as a chapter officer? I teach at my undergraduate institution and was invited to become the Public Relations Officer by one of my former professors who was an officer at that time.
What has your chapter done that has made you proud? Our chapter taps potential members every spring in their classes and although it is a big effort, I think it is part of the reason we have such a successful chapter.
What does Phi Kappa Phi mean to you? Phi Kappa Phi encourages a love of learning and service to one another. I think that these values were instilled in me as a young child by my family, and I like volunteering in an organization that allows me to live out those values.
What do you enjoy most about being a chapter officer? I most enjoy working alongside the other chapter officers. We make a great team and are always encouraging one another.
What advice would you give to a new chapter officer? I had been an officer for 9 years before I attended the biennial convention. I learned so much and wished I had gone earlier. My advice is to try to go to the convention if possible. I also suggest that the new officer ask the staff at headquarters if they need any help and read all of the information on the website. There are so many valuable tips available.
What are your hobbies? I enjoy playing tennis, traveling, reading, and raising backyard chickens.
