Diane Smathers |
Dr. Diane G. Smathers is Associate Vice Provost and Director of the Emeritus College and a professor in family and community studies at Clemson University. She will serve as president-elect for two years and succeed to the presidency of the national honor society in 2012. As president-elect, Smathers will chair the budget, budget advisory and review, programs and awards review, and convention planning committees. -------------------
------------------- Previously, Smathers served as Society Vice President, chairing the Marketing and Member Benefits Committee and serving as a member of the Budget Committee and Vision Statement Work Group. She is also the author of a Phi Kappa Phi White Paper, Phi Kappa Phi and the Distance Learner. Smathers received her B.S. degree in home economics, magna cum laude, from the University of Kentucky and her M.S. degree in home economics, also from Kentucky. She received her Ed.D. from the Institute of Higher Education at the University of Georgia, as well as a graduate certificate in Gerontology. |
