Attention Phi Kappa Phi Poets
|
Phi Kappa Phi Forum is reinstituting a
poetry page. We hope to start the page with the spring 2009 issue.
One poem will be selected from all entries to appear in the printed
version of each spring, summer and fall issue of Phi Kappa Phi
Forum. The winner receives 5 (five) free copies of the issue in
which the work appears. The winner's photo and a short biography
will also appear along with the poem. Runners-up will appear online.
The contest is open only to active Phi Kappa Phi members, published
or unpublished. The poetry must reflect the theme of the given
issue. The theme for the spring 2009 issue is evolution/creationism.
Poems should be up to 40 lines long. One poem per entrant per issue, please. Send your poem as a Word attachment or as a cut-and-paste in the body of the email. Also include a short bio (three or four sentences including Web links), contact information (mailing address and work, home and cell phone numbers) and PKP member number and school affiliation as a separate Word attachment or as a cut-and-paste underneath the poem in the body of the email. Selected poets will be contacted for photos. The deadline is 9 a.m.
CST Monday, Dec. 1. Poet Sandra Meek, Professor of English,
Rhetoric and Writing at Berry College in Mount Berry, GA., and an
active Phi Kappa Phi member since 1986, will serve as judge. Entries
will only be accepted by email at
poetry@phikappaphi.org.
