Love of Learning Selection Committee

The Love of Learning Award Selection Committee is comprised of 30 members (including the chair) – 6 persons from each region.  The committee is assisted by a Headquarters staff representative who sits on the committee as an ex-officio member.  Each of the committee members is appointed by the Society President.  This is a one (1) year appointment with the highest concentration of service/volunteer time occurring June-August.  No travel is required.

Process and timeline:

• In early June, the committee participates in a conference call to discuss the application review process.
• In late June/early July, a staff representative works to process all applications and verify eligibility.
• In early July, all eligible applications are made available to the committee for review and scoring.
• The first week of August, committee submits scores to the Headquarters liaison who will compile, rank and redistribute the list of finalists for the committee’s review.
• Prior to August 15, the committee participates in a conference call to finalize selection of the top 140 applicants as well as 10 alternates.

Once the winners and alternates have been decided upon the work of the committee is complete.  The Chair will work with the Headquarters liaison to produce a Board report.  The liaison will notify the applicants of their final status as well as work on all marketing initiatives.
