Need funding to attend a conference, support dissertation research or pay for textbooks? Apply for a Phi Kappa Phi Love of Learning Award by Monday, October 1.

Available to active members, Love of Learning Awards help fund post-baccalaureate professional development including graduate and professional studies, doctoral dissertations, continuing education, career development, travel related to teaching and research, and more. One hundred awards of $500 each will be distributed during Session B.

Given the opportunity to workshop new music at the Banff Center for the Arts in Alberta, Canada, Raquel Acevedo Klein (SUNY Potsdam) used her Love of Learning Award to fund program costs and travel. The aspiring music educator hoped the experience would shape how she trained future students and broaden their musical palettes.

“I will have students explore music that represents their nationality and cultural background,” shared Klein. “I look forward to creating a new generation of composers that use music as a vehicle to create inclusion and feature cultures or traditions that stem from all over the world.”
