How did you become involved as a chapter officer? I was asked to serve as Vice President on the initial executive committee for the chapter as it was being established in 2009. Since that time, I've served as chapter president, past president, and secretary.

At the national level, I've had the privilege to serve on the Scholar/Artist selection committee and will be serving on the selection committee for the Ray Sylvester Distinguished Service Award.

What has your chapter done that has made you proud? Supporting those students who have applied for the Fellowship. Although we have not yet been fortunate enough to have one of our candidates selected for the Fellowship, working with the students as they prepare their applications is always a rewarding experience. We have had several members selected for the Love of Learning Awards.

We also have hosted some of the Phi Kappa Phi Scholar and Artist award winners. These visits have been great opportunities for students to interact with such distinguished individuals and for the campus and local communities to learn about Phi Kappa Phi as an organization. We also award a Chapter Scholar's award to one of our outstanding incoming members.

What does Phi Kappa Phi mean to you? The organization provides an opportunity to recognize the outstanding academic work of our students. It is this recognition that is most meaningful to me.

What do you enjoy most about being a chapter officer?
I enjoy working with the initiates and their families as we plan the initiation ceremony. Many will travel thousands of miles just to attend the ceremony. It is great fun to see how proud the students and their families are in attaining this recognition.

What advice would you give to a new chapter officer? Be sure to read the information Headquarters sends out—especially the Chapter Officers Open Forum in Link. Lots of important information in there. Be sure to attend a convention. It's a great way to network with others who are committed to the work and purpose of the Society.

What are your hobbies? Needlepoint (I've done needlepoints of all the homes in which I've lived), traveling with my husband (especially cruises), reading

Where are you from? I grew up in Ohio and currently live in Florida after spending most of my career in Indiana.
