Phi Kappa Phi Forum Wins Apex Award

Apex Award WinnerThe spring 2009 edition of Phi Kappa Phi Forum, entitled “Starting with Beginnings,” won a 2009 Apex Award for Publication Excellence for Magazine & Journal Writing.

“The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is thrilled that the continued efforts to transform Phi Kappa Phi Forum into a multidisciplinary quarterly that enlightens, challenges and entertains its smart, diverse, lay readers are being recognized,” said Editor Peter Szatmary. “We appreciate the expertise, passion, diligence and cooperation from all the contributors who helped make the edition so memorable. And, on a personal note, I’m doubly pleased since the spring 2009 edition was the first under my stewardship.”

Phi Kappa Phi ForumThe publication, which doubles as a general-interest reader as well as a platform for the Society, devoted the spring 2009 edition to various types of formations from evolutionism to dance.

Apex Awards recognize achievement in editorial content, graphic design and overall impact of magazines, newsletters, newspapers, annual reports, brochures, manuals, Web materials and other mass-communication products. More than 3,750 entries were submitted for the 2009 contest, including 1,158 in 122 Awards of Excellence categories. Upwards of 700 magazines along with more than 650 writing entries competed for recognition in the 21st annual awards program. Judges included various professionals from Writing That Works: The Business Communications Report.
