Twelve Phi Kappa Phi Members Named to USA Today’s All-USA College Academic Team

Selected on the basis of intellectual endeavors, community service and campus leadership, twelve Phi Kappa Phi members were represented among the 2009 USA Today All-USA College Academic Team. Students were recognized because of excellent scholarship and a commitment to benefiting society with work outside the classroom.

USA Today awards twenty undergrads named to the First Team with national recognition, a trophy and $2,500. The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi was represented with four such recipients:

  • Tran Anh of the University of Minnesota
  • Darby Driscoll of the United States Naval Academy
  • Brian Goh of Louisiana State University
  • Kelly Zahalka of the United States Naval Academy

In addition, eight other Phi Kappa Phi members were named to the second team, third team and honorable mention in the 20th annual All-USA College Academic Team competition:

  • Christopher Deal, Iowa State University, Second Team
  • William Euker, United States Naval Academy, Second Team
  • Henry Swofford, Georgia State University, Second Team
  • Kimberly Jung, United States Military Academy, Third Team
  • Kerri Phillips, West Virginia University, Third Team
  • Shadrack White, University of Mississippi, Third Team
  • Taylor Barnes, Middle Tennessee State University, Honorable Mention
  • Kathryn Huston, University of Massachusetts – Amherst, Honorable Mention
