Arthur Rezny (1910-2009)

Arthur Rezny (Arkansas State University), 98, believed in the power of education and service. He was on the Society board of directors as a regional vice president (1977-83) and was so instrumental in establishing a chapter at Arkansas State University that in 1987 the chapter named a lectureship in his honor. Educated at, among other institutions, University of Illinois (bachelor’s and master’s degrees) and University of Michigan (doctorate), he spent years with public schools in Ann Arbor, Mich., before becoming associated University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Arkansas State University, plus other institutions of higher education. The Navy veteran served in World War II, entering as a lieutenant junior grade and being discharged as a lieutenant commander. He was a member of American Legion Pickett Post # 21 and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Preceded in death by two wives, he is survived by two daughters, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He died March 24.
