Five Phi Kappa Phi Members Named Truman Scholars

Tuesday, April 07, 2009

Selected on the basis of leadership potential, intellectual ability, and likelihood of ‘making a difference,’ five Phi Kappa Phi members were represented among the 2009 Truman Scholars.

Each scholarship is valued at $30,000 to be used for graduate study. Additionally, scholars are provided an advantage for priority admission and supplemental financial aid at some premier graduate institutions, leadership training, career and graduate school counseling, and special internship opportunities within the federal government.

Established in 1975 by Congress, the Truman Scholarship Foundation honors the thirty-third President and exists to award scholarships to college students who plan to attend graduate school in preparation for careers in government or elsewhere in public service.

The five Phi Kappa Phi members named as Truman Scholars are:

  • John Edward Campion, United States Naval Academy
  • Reynaldo A. Fuentes, University of Wyoming
  • Jennifer Nicole Lamb, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
  • Amelia Nichols, Carnegie Mellon University
  • Alexandra Rosenberg, United States Military Academy
