Love of Learning Award Winners Announced

Thursday, October 21, 2010

Phi Kappa Phi is pleased to announce the Love of Learning Award recipients for 2010. Eighty awards of $500 each are distributed annually to members nationwide to help fund post-baccalaureate studies and career development. See the list of winners here.

Love of Learning Award recipients reflect the diverse backgrounds of Society members. The awards will be used to help fund graduate research in literature, science and medicine, the presentation of research at conferences all over the world, to support a chaperone in the 4-H International Exchange program and much more. A U.S. Army captain will use the award toward completion of the Online Bridge Program at Dartmouth''s Tuck School of Business while deployed in Afghanistan. Another recipient will spend two weeks at a rural health clinic in Zambia as part of required clinical volunteer work.

“This award will be of great assistance in helping me obtain my certification and gain further project management professional experience. My gratitude to Phi Kappa Phi!" said Love of Learning winner Melissa Adams from the University of Massachusetts.

The selection process for the Phi Kappa Phi Love of Learning Award is based on 1) the impact on the applicant’s career or educational goals; 2) academic achievement; 3) leadership and service on the campus and in the community; and 4) a personal statement of educational perspective, purpose and objectives.
