The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi recently granted
nearly $500,000 to 164 recipients through its flagship
Fellowship program and grants for study abroad and
literacy projects.
Of the 321 Goldwater scholarships awarded for the 2008-2009 academic year, twenty-five Phi Kappa Phi members were among the list.
Five Phi Kappa Phi members’ accomplishments earned them a spot on this year’s USA Today Academic First Team.
Eight Phi Kappa Phi members were recently named 2008 Marshall Scholarship recipients by the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission.
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi recently granted nearly $500,000 to 276 recipients through its Fellowship/ Awards of Excellence program, Study Abroad Grants, Literacy Grants, Love of Learning Awards and Emerging Scholar Awards. In addition, approximately $200,000 is awarded each year through individual chapter awards and scholarships.
The Phi Kappa Phi Forum magazine recently won a Grand Award for Writing, the highest award category, from APEX for the “Is the Sky Falling?” issue (Winter/Spring 2006).
Dr. Paul J. Ferlazzo, Society president, appointed a Membership Opportunities Committee for the 2004-2007 triennium to answer the question: “Are chapters initiating their distance education students?”
The University of Texas-Arlington made history April 19 by installing the 300th chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest, largest and most selective all-discipline honor society.
Sixty Phi Kappa Phi members have been named Fellowship winners and forty members were announced as Award of Excellence recipients for the 2006-2007 academic year.
Fellowship winners will receive $5,000, and Award of Excellence winners will be awarded $2,000 to pursue a graduate degree in his/her chosen field.
Sixteen deserving Phi Kappa Phi members have been named 2007 Literacy Grant recipients, collectively awarded $30,000. Individual projects may be awarded up to $2,500. The program was initiated in 2003 and is designed to mobilize members and resources of Phi Kappa Phi and the higher education community to champion literacy initiatives.
