Melanie Charrier
History Major
Currently attending Southeastern Louisiana University
This summer, Melanie Charrier participated in the 2005 Rome and Mediterranean Study Cruise, which included a tour of the Vatican and shore excursions in Greece and Turkey. During the cruise, she studied Greek and Roman mythology and literature of the Mediterranean region.
As a history major with plans to teach social studies, Melanie says that her study abroad experience will allow her to relate first-hand information to her students about the beautiful countries from which our nation derived its contemporary systems of government, law, and religious beliefs.
"I will encourage my students to travel out into the world to discover, explore, and experience other countries so that they might gain a broader perspective of what exists outside of their own spheres of existence," said Melanie.
Of her invitation to join Phi Kappa Phi Melanie said, "I wanted to be a part of such a prestigious and long-standing traditional organization. It was a good reward to myself for all the hard work that merited the invitation to join."
